Every result is verified by a qualified analyst and issued with a clear, UKAS-compliant test report.
Clients can drop off samples directly at our laboratory in Meopham, Kent, book our on-site sample collection service, or arrange courier collection across the South East. All samples are handled under strict chain-of-custody procedures to maintain full traceability and integrity.
Bulk Identification is the process we use to find out if the material sampled from your site contains asbestos.
We use specialist equipment, including polarised light microscopy and various pre-treatment techniques, to find out if the material contains asbestos
The methods we use and the requirements we have to meet are laid down by the UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) under HSG248, then checked and approved by UKAS, the UK's National Accreditation Body.
Our reports give details about the material and whether asbestos is present. We can't provide information about the amount of asbestos in the material, simply because it isn't permitted by HSE.
Yes, there are six types of asbestos minerals, and our report will clearly state which of them we have found.
Bulk identification, and the certificate you receive, are all about the analysis stage. The other details, including the condition of the material and any removals required, come in a separate report written after we've made a detailed survey.
The speed of the results depends on the quality of the samples, the materials sampled, and the workload at the lab. We can perform an express analysis within 24 hours of getting your sample as long as the sample is good enough and the lab has the capacity. If you need a fast service, give us a call to talk things through.
