The most comprehensive type of asbestos survey, required before any full or partial demolition.

A demolition survey is required prior to full or partial demolition of any building that may contain asbestos. It is the most thorough and intrusive survey type, designed to locate and identify ACMs as far as reasonably practicable within the entire building structure, including areas not normally accessible during occupation. Demolition surveys should be considered a process, not a single event where all asbestos is identified on the first attempt. Even with full access, some ACMs may only become apparent during the demolition itself. Findings inform the pre-demolition asbestos removal programme and support safe waste classification and management.
HFS carries out demolition surveys under our UKAS ISO/IEC 17020 Inspection Body accreditation, in full accordance with HSG264.
It depends on various factors including the building size, the extent of the works, and the date it was built. Once we’ve gathered all the relevant information, we will give you an accurate timescale.
Because the survey is fully intrusive and destructive, the building should not be occupied afterwards.
Asbestos removal must be carried out by trained professionals. If the asbestos is a friable material, which crumbles easily, the removal is usually licensed. This means you need an asbestos removal company that holds a licence issued by The Health and Safety Executive.
