Keeping your asbestos register current, your management plan up to date, and your compliance on track.

Once ACMs have been identified and recorded, duty-holders are required under CAR 2012 to periodically reinspect those materials to monitor their condition and ensure the management plan remains current. Reinspection surveys provide updated risk assessments, photographic evidence, and revised recommendations, keeping your compliance documentation accurate and defensible.
HFS carries out reinspections under our UKAS ISO/IEC 17020 accreditation, in accordance with HSG264 and CAR 2012.
Frequency depends on the type, condition, and location of ACMs, and should be defined in your asbestos management plan. As a minimum, annual reinspections are recommended for most premises. HFS can advise on the appropriate reinspection schedule for your portfolio.
If you own or manage a non-domestic building built before 2000, you fall under Regulation 4 (duty to manage) of The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. This means you have to manage asbestos on the premises using a reliable asbestos management survey as your reference point. But management does not stop there. It's an ongoing process, which means regular asbestos reinspections are vital.
It depends on the amount of asbestos containing materials that need reinspection. The size of the building or site can also play a role. Usually we can reinspect as many as 75 asbestos containing materials a day.
Yes. Because our reinspections are non intrusive, usually carried out under normal occupation, the premises should be safe to re-occupy afterwards.
Trained professionals are the only people who should remove asbestos. If it's friable, in other words likely to crumble, the job is normally a licensed task, and your removals company will need to be specially licensed by The Health and Safety Executive.
