Asbestos Management Surveys: UKAS Accredited

UKAS accredited asbestos management surveys and support

Identifying and assessing asbestos-containing materials in occupied buildings, helping duty-holders meet their legal obligations under CAR 2012.

What Is a Management Survey?

A management survey is the standard survey required for most occupied buildings. Its purpose is to locate, as far as reasonably practicable, all asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) that could be damaged or disturbed during normal occupation, routine maintenance, and minor installation works. The survey informs the asbestos register and management plan required under Regulation 4 of CAR 2012.

HFS carries out management surveys under our UKAS ISO/IEC 17020 Inspection Body accreditation, in full accordance with HSG264. Samples are analysed at our own laboratory for fast results.

Who Needs a Management Survey?

If you are responsible for the maintenance or repair of non-domestic premises built before 2000 (including commercial buildings, schools, hospitals, housing blocks, industrial premises, or communal areas of residential buildings), you have a legal duty to manage asbestos. A management survey is the essential first step.

Answers to your Management Survey questions

For non-domestic premises there is a legal requirement to manage asbestos. The starting point is an asbestos management survey.

It depends entirely on the age and size of the building. Typically, a 3 bedroom house would take no longer than a few hours to carry out a management survey.
